Introduction and the Mission

Hello, everybody! My name is Matthew Benson and I am a sports... addict. That's the best way I can put my infatuation with all things athletic. And because I have bats and gloves and hoops swirling in my head at all times, I figured why not post 5% of what I think online? Get some feedback on the numerous stats and opinions that get formulated on my sports binges. Also, I'm taking a break from school so I need to keep my writing sharp.

First, I'm a 21 year old resident of Peekskill, NY, which has definitely contributed to the love of my favorite sport: basketball. I love baseball, lacrosse, football, and tennis as well, and an interest in golf and other sports, but basketball is life. My High School has won three of the last five State Championships in basketball, and has Elton Brand, Hilton Armstrong and Mookie Jones as ball playing alums. Mookie is actually a friend and Syracuse University is where we both call our college. I love the Orange sports so there'll be quite a bit of opinions on them, especially as the lacrosse season is approaching and the Orange get ready to defend their title.

I'm also an orange-and-blue loving Knicks fan, and had an internship with them in 2004-05. The only thing I'll say about them for now is 2010 and Lebron James. We deserve him more than Cleveland. The Jets are my football team, my cousin is Jericho Cotchery so an interview with him is something I'm working on.

But my favorite team is by far the New York Yankees. Don't worry Bostonians, you don't have to turn away. Though I do have an extreme distaste for your sports teams, my analysis promises to be fair and balanced in it's presentation. That being said, this year promises to be the most interesting in the American League East in a long time. I think the Tampa Bay Rays are only gonna get better, and Boston and New York's retooled teams have question marks, so I'm sure many posts through the year will be about this trio of teams.

But primarily, this blog will be about sports in general, recruiting, prospects, drafts, transactions, you name it, I think about it. And I'm going to do my absolute best to give you the best analysis of the sports goings ons as I can. I love athletics and I'd like to share my passion with the world. And hey, who know's where this can lead? With enough readers, anyone can do anything, so support the blog just by reading! Thank you for your consideration, and I hope it will be as fun and interesting to read as it is for me to write it. I hope you can hear the voice in my writing as much as you can see the facts I try and incorperate.
